Highlights of the  75th Session of the Texas Legislature

  •   Prevented HIV/Drug rehabilitation center from being located next to Pinewood Park Elementary. Center was relocated to a non-residential area off of Highway 31
  •   Contract housing of state prisoners in Gregg County Jail at no cost to Gregg County taxpayers
  • HCR 238  Conferring the first Texas Legislative Medal of Honor to Congressional Medal of Honor receipt and Kilgore Resident, James M. Logan
  • HB 3507  Expanded jurisdiction of Gregg County Court-at-Law to include family law matters
  • HB 1999  Gives RRC authority to salvage oil well equipment to assist in well plugging costs
  • HB 793  Purple Paint Law - Allows property owners to easily and clearly mark property boundaries with purple paint marks on trees or fence posts
  •   $6 million appropriation for University of Texas at Tyler Longview Center
