High-Speed In Lindale Friday, 17th February 2006 2:45AM KTBB News LINDALE - Representative Tommy Merritt and Governor Rick Perry were in Lindale yesterday to unveil a “landmark technology investment.” High-speed internet service will be available for Lindale and Hide A Way Lake by the end of 2006, as a result of bipartisan legislation. Senate Bill 5 was signed into law in 2005 by Governor Perry. Thursday's Lindale stop was part of a tour announcing the expansion of high-speed internet service to 71 of “the smallest rural communities in Texas.” The new law overhauled the telecommunications industry, encouraged competition in the local cable market, and made Texas a national leader in telecommunications innovations such as offering broadband over power lines, as well as cable and voice over internet protocol. in 2005.
